Bob Bradley himself has singled out Mido for special praise, terming the former Marseille hitman as a fantastic player but who needs to lose considerable weight and start playing regular football before being considered for an international recall. It seems Mido has a hell lot of work to do in the coming season. The player himself has admitted that leaving Zamalek for the second tier of English football is a result of a serious rethink on his part to don national team colours once again after years of dealing with fitness issues and ego problems with former coach Hassan Shehata.

Mido told Sky Sports, “I think everyone knows England has the best football in the world and the best league.

“I have played in France, Holland, Italy and Spain and the best league for the way I play is England. I still have a lot of friends here.

“The Championship is a tough competition – harder than people think – but hopefully I can help.

“And with some new signings here we could have a good team. It will be hard work but we could do well and get ourselves in a good position in the table.”
