Bullock plays a cloistered author that has spent her career writing about desirable places within her crowd-pleasing romantic novels, featuring Tatum as a handsome cover model. His life appears to revolve around the embodiment of his fictionalized hero character, Dash, who plays the part of a champion in the imaginative pages of the novel. While on tour promoting her new book, Bullock finds herself kidnapped by an offbeat billionaire played by Daniel Radcliffe, who hopes to use her to find the treasure in the ancient lost city mentioned within her novel. The events push Tatum into action, allowing him to prove his heroic persona is more than a fictional element within the pages of a book. The narrative presents a dilemma as the characters must work together, surviving the elements to become the very things they pretend to be.

Bullock and Tatum are no strangers to the comedic genre, each building a profile of humor that will have audiences eager to see the tandem in action together. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bullock discussed the relationship she and Tatum formed while filming in the Dominican Republic. “I don’t know if it’s because we’ve all been locked in our homes for so long, but if you can just sit in a room with someone and it’s quiet and just for no reason start laughing, and you know why the other one is laughing, but you don’t know why the other one is laughing, it just makes things so much easier,” stated the versatile actress. The experience brought them together uniquely, and one can only hope that it shows within their on-camera chemistry.
